Process

OUR PROCESS

Once a signed proposal is received and the retainer paid, projects go on our calendar.
Depending on the time of year, we are booked 3 weeks to 3 months in advance.
All projects are scheduled with an estimated start date for the design in the order they are received.

The Design Phase

Consultation Prior to the meeting you will receive a questionnaire that will help define the scope of your project. And will be the basis of your client file.

Site Evaluation Take on-site measurements to verify the accuracy of existing surveys and/or plans and to create an accurate layout and design for the project. Take additional measurements, photo document the specific areas, document adjacent site conditions, inventory existing plants and hardscape as defined by the project’s description. If your project requires a topographical survey that will increase the time it takes to complete this stage.

Creating a Concept The concept is the beginning of your project’s design. Ideas will flow back and forth from our studio via email or in person to hone the concept. Preliminary material selections, 3D renderings and color studies may be components of the conceptual plan.

Designing Layout Plans The layout plan is a three-part module developed once the initial concept is approved. All spaces and materials are finalized at this point. If your plan requires a variance or other government approvals this can add an additional 3 weeks to 6 months to the timeline dependent on the Zoning and Construction offices in your town.
Outdoor Furniture and Accessory Plans are included with the Layout Plan. Furniture selections will be detailed on this plan.
Lighting plans are part of this module. Depending on the scope, outdoor lighting may be outsourced to a lighting designer. If so, we cannot predict the timeframe.

Detailed Planting Plans Planting plans with specific plants, sizes and quantities will be on this plan.

Construction Preparation

Writing Construction Notes The details necessary to build the garden and apply for permits will be
completed at this point and placed on the plan. If pool construction drawings, structural engineering or architectural services are required they will be outsourced to one of our trusted partners. If so, we cannot predict the timeframe and additional permits may be required.

Estimating the Installation We can match the project with an excellent team of contractors or
send the project out for multiple bids. We will review and negotiate those bids prior to presenting them to you. We are not in control of contractors’ schedules and cannot predict the timeframe

Installation Observation
